vi, (2), 214 pp. Three plates + text figs. Spotting to endpapers and to text leaves where the plates are gathered; still, a very good copy. R.J. Strutt (1875-1947), the son of Lord Rayleigh, ".was the author of one of the earliest books on radioactivity, 'The Becquerel Rays', 1904." (D.N.B.). PMM, p.247 (wrong date of publication) comments on this book: '"Ingenious experiments by R.J. Strutt. proved that the emanations given off by radioactive substances are not homogenous but are of at least two different kinds, one of which will and another one of which will not pass through tin foil."
