First and only edition.In the very scarce original unclipped dust wrapper.Published by The Protestant Truth Society, who published other works such as 'Heather: The Adventures of a Scotch Lassie'. This society was founded in 1889 to take a stand against the growing influence of 'Romanism within church and nation'.Subtitled 'A Story of Italy to-day', this work is described as an anti-Catholic novel about an English Protestant missionary in Italy. Contents include 'The Man and the Scene', 'A Happy Home', 'Faith's Venture', 'A Villain at Large', and 'A Fight in the Glade'.Written by J. M. Rippon.One page of publisher's adverts to rear of text.Collated, complete. In the publisher's original cloth binding, in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, very smart, with minimal edge wear to the extremities and the spine. Bottom edge of boards are very lightly faded. Dust wrapper is sound, with chipping and significant loss to the rear of wraps, and a small bit of loss to both the top and bottom edge of front wraps.Several tape repairs to the wraps to the reverse of wraps. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout. Very Good Indeed.
