Two photographic series, printed duotone, with an essay by Trevor Paglen. New. The first volume in Michael Light's ambitious series of books with Radius, Some Dry Space: An Inhabited West. For the last fifteen years, Light has aerially photographed over settled and unsettled areas of American space, pursuing themes of mapping, vertigo, human impact on the land, and various aspects of geologic time and the sublime. The Bingham Canyon copper mine is the largest man-made excavation on the planet. It has produced more copper than any mine in history. The mine's Garfield smelter stack, situated at the edge of the Great Salt Lake about 10 miles away, is the tallest free-standing structure west of the Mississippi River, and is only 35 feet shorter than the Empire State Building.

All books are first editions in very good or better condition unless otherwise noted. Dustjackets are noted when present. Books will be held for one week unless other arrangements are made, and all purchases are returnable for any reason with advance notification. Institutional billing is available with standard terms.

Shipping costs are based on books weighing 2 lb, or roughly 1 kg. For heavier and/or oversized books, we may contact you if a higher shipping charge will be required; conversely, we often reduce the shipping charges on lighter packages.
