Title page + 160 pages of text + 78 single sided plates (numerous engraved portraits to each plate), also has 4 endpages front & rear. Original publishers/printers hardback binding, in good condition, with the original paper label to spine, minor edge splitting top, minor edge rubbing, corner tip knocks. Contents good, tight copy, all endpages front & rear clean, no inscriptions etc. Most pages of text very good & clean, some with light foxing from plates, there is some foxing to a number of plates. We note that the modern photocopies/books you can buy list many more pages as they must count both sides of plates (the fools). This was a very expensive book in 1830 and surprisingly no list of subscribers. At the time of listing, we only found only one other genuine1830 copy for sale in poor condition. We are pretty sure there were very few 1830 first editions of this tome printed, and for very wealthy only as the spine label states .Price Ten Guineas. a equivalent value is well over £1000 today. So to sum up a rare tome, with unmarked endpages, in the original publishers/printers basic hardback binding, this looks like an unsold copy at that time, just a much later rubbed out name? Inside rear cover. It looks like this copy has been kept hidden away, unread for reference only?
