Written and illustrated by Dorothea Baer, Tyler's wife, this pamphlet features "Valentinian" meditations on the verses of the 2nd Century Gnostic 'Gospel of Truth' Each letterpress text is accompanied by a woodblock-printed image depicting various stages in the life of the flower. A hand is shown plantings a seed in the soil, which germinates and grows steadily through sun and rain. As the flower reaches full blossom it is urinated on by a dog and then pulled from the earth by the hand that planted it. The gnostic texts and bold expressionist graphics read like a parable on spiritual actualization.
