About this Item
First edition. Octavo. Page edges marbled. Fine in lightly rubbed still fine dustwrapper. Two Manhattan "Sophisticates" meet a young and enigmatic woman who is a dead-ringer for a socialite last seen thirty years earlier during the Gay Nineties but could she possibly be the same woman, unaged? Novel was the basis for the film directed by Frank Lloyd, starred Corinne Griffith and Conway Tearle, and featured Alan Hale and Clara Bow in one of her earliest roles. Parenthetically, this was the first book reviewed by *Time* Magazine. According to *Time*, Atherton was the great-grandniece of Ben Franklin. Seller Inventory # 441277
