About Blady. A Pattern Out of Time

Hardback. First Edition. About Blady. A Pattern Out of Time. In this absorbing autobiographical memoir, Blady is not so much thte principal (although she has a crucial part to play) as the core symbol and catalyst. It is a true story of people, events, themes and relationships which together have formed a special pattern in Laurens van der Post's life. Unlike anything he has ever written before, it combines intuitive fantasy with vivid personal experience, imaginative contemplation with a taut dramatic narrative as the story gathers pace to the climax of Blady's great race. Outwardly random occurrences, from the writer's childhood in Africa to the death of his son from cancer, provide the framework for the searching exploration that follows - an exploration into fundamental aspects of the human spirit, its besetting ills and troubles, and the life-forces that keep it intact. Impassioned, uplifting, if also sombre at times, this book carries with it a powerful message of hope and mutual understanding. It is a testament to mankind's capacity for partnership with the natural world, and to the transcendent healing that such a partnership can bring. 255 pp. (We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. academic and scholarly books and Modern First Editions, Reference books ,and all types of Academic Literature.).…
