In the original publisher's cloth binding, in the original price-clipped dust wrapper. Externally, smart. Very light bumping to the head and tail of the spine. A couple of small marks to the tail of the spine and rear board. Small bump to the rear board. Dust wrapper is edge worn with some chips and closed tears, heavier to the head of the spine. Condition: Good. 1957. First Edition. 238 pages. No dust jacket. This is an ex-Library book. Black cloth covered boards with gilt. Ex library copy with associated labels, inserts, stamps and annotations. Pages are heavily tanned and foxed throughout. Binding remains firm. Boards have moderate shelf wear with mild bumping and fraying to corners and crushing and fraying to spine ends. All surfaces heavily tanned, particularly spine. Signed presentation from the author on the front endpaper to Nancy Bowder, a friend and correspondent of Richmal Crompton. She worked at Cyril Beaumont's Bookshop at 75 Charing Cross, with her sister Jill Anne, "To Nancy, with much love from, Richmal Crompton." Slight lean, otherwise very good in somewhat chipped and nicked, good only dust jacket, with loss at lower spine, top front corner and rear lower corner, closed tears and some edge wear. Signedes.
