Synopsis

This is the sixth in a series of fantasy adventures about the Kingdom of Archerland, constantly threatened by Mazlund, one of the chief among the Fallen Angels. Previously, Mazlund had constructed an alternate nature with which to replace Archerland only to be thwarted at the last minute, and had almost succeeded in finding a zone independent of the will of God from which to combat his great rival, only to lose his opportunity at the eleventh hour. In this novel, he assumes the role of a blind prophet who preaches pacifism, and convinces most of Archerland to abandon its citizen army. Thus, King Paul II is left with only a small cadre with which to combat the invasion of Mazlund s Darkforce, and, once again, Archerland teeters on the edge of darkness.

About the Author

H. R. Coursen has published 22 novels, 30 books of po-etry, and 15 books of criticism. His adaptations of 14 plays by Euripides appeared in 2003 from Mathom. He has won awards from the New England Poetry Club, the Maine Poets Society, and Pushcart. In 1996, a poll con-ducted by Penn State University named him one of the 25 "master teachers of Shakespeare in the 20th century." A fighter pilot in the USAF in the 1950s, he is a member of Veterans for Peace. He lives in Brunswick, Maine and teaches at the University of Maine, Augusta.
