With ten illustrations by Mark Edward Geyer. First edition, first printing. Publisher's black cloth, spine lettered in gilt, with decorative endpapers illustrated by Mark Edward Geyer; in the original red dust jacket designed by Abby Weintraub, lettered in gold. Near fine book, with a touch of wear to head of spine and a spot of soiling to front board; fine unclipped dust jacket. Overall, a wonderful copy. Blood Communion: A Tale of Prince Lestat is the thirteenth and final book in Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles series. The conflict between Lestat and the ancient vampire Rhoshamandes is central to the story, as are the innerworkings of Lestat's court and his attempts to rule the vampire world. Blood Communion is the only book in the series to include illustrations and is the last novel she wrote without her son, Christopher Rice, as a co-writer. Anne Rice passed away three years later in 2021 at 80 years old.
