450 pages, hardcover in tooled boards embossed with gilt, 7.5" by 5.25". Tissue-covered frontispiece. First edition was 1870, from the same publisher; this likely a slightly later edition, repackaged for the publisher's "Young Folks Series." Ultra-scarce young adult novel by collectible Victorian Boston publisher known for small editions, fine bindings, and illustrated books. OCLC has no listing for this or for the first 1870 edition. In very good condition overall - interior strikingly fresh and clean, front hinge minimally compromised, binding solid, front cover and spine with light rubbing and gilt details that remain bright.
