Item description from seller

Wilmington, Delaware: Cedar Tree Books, Ltd, 2000. 6" wide by 9" tall. A beautiful, pristine copy -- bright, shiny, clean, square, tight, and unmarked. Sharp corners. The spine is square and flat. Pages are clean and crisp -- obviously never read. Illustrated with drawings, old ads, posters & other baseball ephemera, and vintage photographs (teams and individuals). Statistics. Bibliography. From the rear cover: "The original Wilmington Blue Rocks joined the Class B Interstate League in 1940 and became its most successful franchise. The league prospered during the heyday of minor league baseball when more than 400 teams were playing in 59 leagues from coast to coast. The Interstate League was one of only nine of the leagues able to play through World War II, and it also overcame the difficult years of the Korean War. But it could not survive the advent of television…Forty years after the demise of the original team, a new Blue Rocks club emerged. Its performance in the Class A League has been even more spectacular, marking it as one of the most successful teams in organized baseball in the 1990s. Author Elbert Chance, a former University of Delaware administrator, recalls the humor, hits and heartaches of the teams and individual stars who played important roles in the sports history of [Delaware] and the nation.". First Edition. Softcover. New condition. Illus. by Driscoll, Paul (cover art). x, 380pp.

Store description

About Books [Genny and Michael Winne, proprietors, formerly of Parsippany, New Jersey) has been selling rare and out of print books since 1985. Besides book fairs and mail order catalogue, long-time collectors and dealers will remember our lengthy For Sale ads in the Antiquarian Bookman and similar magazines. Our inventory of more than 40,000 volumes is especially strong in the specialities listed, but contains fine books in a variety of other fields as well. Because most of our books are stored in protective boxes, rather than on shelves, they cannot be viewed as a whole. If you want to examine specific titles, please provide 24 hours notice and we will make them available for your inspection. Phone calls to (702) 750-2722 are welcome, but please only between the hours of 8am and 10pm, west coast time. Our phone is a landline that cannot receive texts.
