Item description from seller

First Edition (1969) , unstated in accordance with Horizon's usual but not universally employed practice. Very Good- in a Good+ DJ: The Book shows bowing to the front board; a very thin line of sunning to the upper edge of the rear panel, even less so to the lower edge and to the heel of the backstrip; the binding leans slightly but remains secure; the text is clean. Free of creased or dog-eared pages in the text. Free of any underlining, hi-lighting or marginalia or marks in the text. Free of ownership names, dates, addresses, notations, inscriptions, stamps, or labels. A clean, bright copy, structurally sound and tightly bound, showing the noted imperfections. The gilt titles at the backstrip and quite bright and the black cloth of the panels is also quite clean. The DJ shows some wear with small loss to chipping at the head and heel of the backstrip and to the corner tips; a short, mostly closed tear at the outside edge of the front panel near the corner; some mild rubbing and faint consequent soiling (or that might be foxing) to the white background field of the panels; the price ($6.95) is intact. Attractive and intact, but shows some wear and cosmetic imperfections. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. 8vo (9.5 x 6.5 x 1.25 inches) . Index. Edited by Lucie Gutkind and Henry Le Roy Finch. Language: English. Weight: 20.5 ounces. Hardback: in DJ. Eric Gutkind (1877 1965) was a German Jewish philosopher. Starting with a vision of history having something in common with ancient Gnosticism, he became increasingly interested in Jewish philosophy and formulated his ideas in terms of concepts drawn from the Kabbala. Eric Gutkind belonged to a pacificist-mystical circle of European intellectuals which at different points included Walter Benjamin, Martin Buber, L. E. J. Brouwer, Henri Borel, Frederik van Eeden, Wassily Kandinsky, Franz Oppenheimer, Walther Rathenau, Romain Rolland, Upton Sinclair and Rabindranath Tagore. His third book, Choose Life: The Biblical Call To Revolt, published in the United States in 1952, was a reinterpretation of traditional Judaism which drew to his lectures many students dissatisfied with both liberalism and orthodoxy and looking for something more concrete and dynamic than both. The Body of God was published posthumously. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 237 pages.
