4" x 2.5." 16 pp., illus. As issued, sewn into original printed wrappers. Closed tear to the top edge of the front wrapper at the spine with transparent tape mend to the verso; light and scattered toning throughout. A charming book filled with wood-engravings50 in fact. all pages with full border. the pages range from full page illustrations to in one instance a page with almost 20 engravings, each engraving with caption. While the book is undated, the cataloguer at the American Antiquarian Society notes that Merrill published under his own name between 1843 and 1854. OCLC locate only the one institutional holding at the AAS. Rare.
