William Carew Hazlitt (1834 1913), known professionally as W. Carew Hazlitt, was an English lawyer, bibliographer, editor and writer. He was the son of the barrister and registrar William Hazlitt, a grandson of the essayist and critic William Hazlitt, and a great-grandson of the Unitarian minister and author William Hazlitt. He was also an avid book collector. This copy was expensively bound in 1/2 green morocco on green cloth with raised bands and gilt titles and designs on the spine. Marbled endpapers and matching marbling all around on the page edges. Frontis of a painting of a 19th century book sale at Sotheby's has an unusual tissue guard page with a printed listing of the names of all the attendees in the painting. Binding is quite sound. The spine leather is sun faded, but there are no other marks or damage at all. . ab21. Seller Inventory # B644
