A very good copy, with minor wear at the bottom of te spine, minor wear at the top fo the spine with a one-quarter inch closed tear at the spine top, moderate wear at the forecorners of the covers, the spine is faintly cocked, The title page has the following notes, all in pencil, except the inscription which is in ink: 1. Signature and date of the first owner of this book. 2. Inscription of one individual to another, the first individual's name is on the verso of the front free endpaper. 3. Three line note which mentions Morphy and is dated Nov. 11, 1859. 4. Notes about the winning of four games and the opponent. The title of the book continues: "entered in the problem tournay; together with sketches of the history of chess in the old and the new world." The gold lettering on the spine and the printer's mark are moderately bright. The book is well bound and the pages are clean. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. …
