About this Item
A delightful three volume work regarding the ins and outs of motor cars, written by Rankin Kennedy. A fascinating technical insight into motoring at the start of the twentieth century, detailing the engineering and technology of motor cars.Written by Rankin Kennedy (1854-1917), an engineering author and inventor whose other works included many contributions to The Engineer. Each volume is complete with a pop-up frontispiece to the pastedown; the pop-up is lacking to volume II and torn to the first volume with loss.Lacking the fourth volume, which was published later.Richly illustrated with vignette photographs and diagrams; volume I also contains eight plates, volume II eight plates and volume III seven. Collated, complete.Undated; dated from copies held on Jisc.A fantastic and informative set. In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Externally generally smart, with a little wear to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. The head of the spine has noticeably lifted to volume I. Internally, generally firmly bound, with a touch of straining in places. Pages are generally bright and clean, with just the occasional instance of spotting.
