8vo. Limited edition. #56 of 250 copies. Original thin boards loosely covered with brown and tan batik paper. Printed in Caslon on Van Gelder handmade paper by the Pelican Press. In blue paper slipcase with printed paper label to the front, as issued. Slipcase spine slightly faded. Fine in near fine slipcase. The Prospectus explained that the Book of Ruth 'has not shared with the Song of Songs and Ecclesiastes and great and incapacitating popularity among publishers, despite the fact that it is one of the finest and probably the earliest of "short stories"'. The severe limitation (for the Press) means that this is one of the scarcest and most sought after Nonesuch books. The batik paper is usually maroon, this appears to be a variant and is very attractive.
