A vanishingly scarce programme advertising popular ventriloquist Frederic Maccabe's popular entertainment 'Begone, Dull Care'. A very scarce work.Frederic Maccabe was a very popular protean artiste and ventriloquist in the 1860s and 1870s, who was praised for the performance detailed in this work - titled 'Begone, Dull Care' - in an 1874 edition of the Illustrated London News.This work provides the lyrics of many of the songs in the performance.Undated; dated c1875 via the University of Oxford.With the pencil inscription of English businessman and MP Oliver Smedley to the title page head. Smedley was involved in classical liberal politics and pirate radio. In 1966, he killed artist manager Reginald Calvert, in an act of self-defence.With extensive reviews and textual analysis in an earlier hand to eight pages, partially obscuring the text.With contemporary advertisements to final few leaves.A very scarce insight into the music of the popular performer and ventriloquist. In the publisher's original paper wraps. Externally, bright, with minor losses of paper to back strip head and tail, and small closed tears to back strip. Wraps detached from text block. Text block firmly bound. Pencil inscription to title page head. Major extensive pencil inscriptions to eight pages. Pages bright, with light spotting. Good Only. Seller Inventory # 945F18
