This Near Fine book was published by Cupples and Leon in 1955; it is 7-5/8" x 5-1/4", with 224 numbered pages; there is a frontis only, on plain paper. The book is square, very clean, free of edge dings, with a very slight bump on the top front corner and spine ends are very lightly bumped, all without fabric damage. Bottom edges have little wear. There is a small stain in the middle of the front board--otherwise, the exterior is very clean. Except for a inked name on the FFEP, the interior is completely free of writing, stray marks, stains of any type and paper damage of any sort. The paper is very slightly toned and quite flexible. The hinges are both quite strong and not damaged in any way. The VG jacket is very clean, has no fading, only mild soiling, with tiny edge chips at the top front corner and head of spine, with a 1" tear at the top of the rear panel; there is slight wear and color loss on the front fold and on the top 1-1/2" of the spine.
