I am pleased to offer yet another music related book (now many of them currently listed)-this one quite scarce (only one copy found online) and titled: Brahms s Vocal Duets and Quartets with Piano A Guide with Full Texts and Translations by Lucien Stark. This medium-sized hard cover book (6 ½ x 9 ½ inches 160 pages) was published by the Indiana University Press of Bloomington and Indianapolis dated 1998 and by my reading of the codes on the copyright page- the First Printing of the First Edition. This book is bound in dark red cloth with black titles on the spine and protected by a glossy printed dust jacket. As the flap of the dust jacket notes: The book …provides the original German text- a new translation into idiomatic English and a thorough descriptive-historical and analytical discussion of each song with early performance history-background on the poetry and insights into the links between Brahms s text and melodic and harmonic features of the music. Condition: This book is in near fine condition. The only minor issue are the very slightly bumped upper corners. The rest of the book is pristine- inside and out.
