Once the personal copy of Elisha M. Pease, with his signature twice - on the title page (and dated 1858) and on the first page of the Preface. Elisha Pease served two terms as Governor of Texas (1853-1857 and 1867-1869). This book is attractively rebound with brown leather spine over brown cloth boards. Dark brown leather title label and raised bands on the spine. Endppages are decorated. Very Good. A more recent previous owner's bookplate on the rear endpage. Some light, sporadic foxing to text, a bit heavier on the plates. Includes the two handcolored bird plates, as well as the fold-out map. The map is a little creased and has a couple of short tears to the margin where it's attached to binding. 630 pages, followed by a few pages of advertisements. Seller Inventory # 43911
