First edition (1900) decorated American trade binding. Boards are quite clean, with tiny spots of wear to two corner tips, base of spine. Green cloth boards with illustration of a group of girls, ribbon decoration on cover, with gold lettering on cover and spine. Five full page illustrations by Jessie Willcox Smith (including frontispiece with tissue guard). Binding is tight and square. Previous owner name and date (Xmas 1900) neatly penned on front free endpaper, small bookplate of same person on upper corner of front pastedown. A few pages have small spots to margins, most are clean and bright. 328 pages.
