Lyon (1796-1832) was an English officer in the Royal Navy and explorer of Africa and the Arctic. Lyon is best remembered for the entertaining journals he kept and for the pencil drawings he completed in the Arctic. This volumes is his narrative of the 1824 expedition aboard the poorly performing HMS Griper and the subsequent failure to find the fabled Northwest Passage.
