A novel, "Bright Day" follows Gregory Dawson, a successful screenwriter who retreats to Cornwall to work on a film script and is transported by memory to his youth before World War I. J. B. Priestley (1894-1984) was a prolific English novelist, playwright, and essayist, best known for "The Good Companions" (1929) and the play "An Inspector Calls" (1945). "Bright Day" is one of his postwar novels exploring time, memory, and moral renewal.
