About this Item
1st edition (1993), now rare. Sussex-based throughout his life, the well-loved illustrator Frank Patterson ('Pat') 1871-1952, initially made his reputation through drawing furniture and home implements for the magazine, 'The Book of the Home'. Gravitating to 'Cycling' magazine, published by Temple Press, his pen and ink illustrations became synonymous with cycling throughout his life-time. Whilst in later life, he contributed illustrations to other magazines in the stable of Temple Press, his pen will be forever associated with capturing cycling in one of its golden ages. This book contains more than 200 b. & w., pen & ink drawings "of bygone Britain", including many cycling illustrations, from the pen of 'Pat'. Approx. 79 pages (un-paginated) printed and bound in illustrated, soft covers. In VGC throughout - one or two age-related marks to cover edges but otherwise this is a very clean, tidy and tightly bound book. Large 8vo. [We have three other books on Patterson's cycling art - please see listings 221129, 231204 and 231205]. Seller Inventory # 221134
