First edition. Hardcover. Four large folio volumes with gilt cover decoration. Good condition (no dust jackets-as issued?). Vols. I and III front inner hinge broken; front free endpaper loose in vol. I. All volumes have top and bottom of spine split with some loss. Small piece missing mid-spine of vol. III. Pencil marks on two portraits in vol. I, not affecting the image. Ink presentation inscription to former owner dated 1913 in each volume, either on half-title or recto of frontispiece. The 32 full-page portraits all clean and unfoxed, except for the two with penciling. Four large folio volumes.
