Large 8vo, i-vii, 469 pp, 47 plates some of which are coloured lithographs, text figures. Original brown cloth, 3 cm split to the joint of the spine and the front board , however the binding is strong and firm. Top edge gilt, near stamp of Chelsea Polytechnic Library on the title page and a withdrawn stamp on the verso of the title page. Each plate has a neat oval stamp to the verso of the plates and the top margin of the first page of the Introduction and two pages of text have a stamp. Generally the contents are very clean and due to the weight of the text block this is a book which often suffers issues with the original binding. A heavy item for which an overseas order will require additional shipping charges.
