First (only) edition. Quarter-cloth and ornamental paper boards. Edition of one hundred twenty-five copies printed on Whatman's hand-made paper. Simple folded Christmas 1944 greeting card from Stauffer tipped onto front pastedown. On the front free endpaper there is a gift inscription, also dated Christmas, 1944, from another individual, presumably someone close to Stauffer. War poems written while the author was a Marine officer, composed in such places as Bougainville, Guadalcanal, and Espiritu Santo. Stauffer, born in 1902, would have then been in his early forties.
