About this Item
For your consideration is a very nice, illustrated version reprint of a Rudyard Kipling book titled: They and the Brushwood Boy, with illustrations by F. H. Townsend. This medium-sized hard cover book (6 x 8 ½ inches, 60 pages for the first story and 73 pages for the latter) was published by Doubleday, Page & Company of Garden City, New York, dated 1926 and a First Edition thus. There is a nice color frontispiece at the beginning of the book and ten other color plates by the artist on glossy pages, blank on the reverse. The book is bound in dark red covers with gilt decorations and titles on the cover and the spine (although they are barely visible on the darkened spine). The top edge is gilt. Condition: This book is in good condition. The covers are a bit darkened around the edge, from handling and the spine is almost completely darkened and the titles there now illegible. The corners are ever so slightly bumped as are the spine tips, of which the top is slightly frayed. The decorations and titles on the cover, however, are still bright and attractive. Inside, there is a former owner s careful signature on the front endpaper. The interior pages and plates show some random spots of soiling or the effect of moisture particularly on the pages near the plates and at the seam between them. There is just the slightest hint of a band of age-toning on the top margin of the text pages. There is some very light acid toning on the endpapers. The hinges are fully intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder. Seller Inventory # 143
