VG. First Edition, First Printing. No d/w. Light brown pictorial cloth, multi-coloured upper illustration. Lettered gilt on spine and front cover. No date, (circa 1910). Profusely illustrated with colour and black and white illustrations by Reginald Rivington. An enchanting period children's fantasy novel, set in St Ronans, Hadley Wood, Hertfordshire. Some dusting and spotting to top and lower-edges; minor nicks to the top-edge of five leaves (not affecting text); prize presentation label to front endpaper; else a very good copy of the SCARCE first edition, first printing.
