The boards have a few light abrasions, particularly on the front board's upper tip. The quality artisan paper is very lightly age-toned. A Very Good copy. *** The paper was read before the veterans of the Eighth Vermont Vol. regiment and the First Vermont cavalry to commemorate the monument that was raised in their honor at the Cedar Creek battlefield on Sept. 19, 1885. It contains a short history of the Regiment's role during the Shenandoah Campaign generally, and at the Battle of Cedar Creek in detail. A list of speakers and dignitaries are also mentioned, General Thomas and Governor Ormsbee in particular. Drawings of the monument, including the dedication plaques, are shown, along with the plate, showing the defense of the Regiments colors, titled DESPERATE DEFENCE OF THE FLAGS OF THE 8th VERMONT. ***.
