Decorative mustard cloth with black and gold gilt decoration of Rocky Mountain scene, with gilt titled cover and spine. CONDITION DESCRIPTION: Light rubbing to edges; some corner wear, spine lightly rubbed and soiled. Interior has former owner's bookplate on front endpaper. Interior pages are lightly age tones, else clean and tight. Folding map is complete and in fine condition with no tears and little evidence of use. Overall a clean, bright copy of the first edition. CONTENTS DESCRIPTION: Excellent descriptions of camp and wild life, with whole chapters on hunting wapiti and bighorn sheep. Good section on trout fishing and camping in the canyons of the Colorado River. Early and well regarded infomartion on western cattle ranching. Quite scarce in the first edition of a western classic.
