About the Author
Edward P. Shafranske, PhD, ABPP, is professor of psychology and director of the doctoral program in clinical psychology at Pepperdine University in Los Angeles, California. He also lectures in the Department of Psychiatry, David Geffen School of Medicine, University of California, Los Angeles. A fellow of the American Psychological Association (APA), Dr. Shafranske has served as president of APA Division 36 (Psychology of Religion) and chair of the California Psychological Association (CPA) Division of Education and Training. A former Luckman Distinguished Teaching Fellow, he received Pepperdine's Howard A. White Award for Teaching Excellence in 2006 and the CPA Award for Distinguished Contributions to Psychology as a Profession in 2007. He has supervised clinicians at all levels of professional development. His publications include Clinical Supervision: A Competency-Based Approach, Religion and the Clinical Practice of Psychology, and Spiritually Oriented Psychotherapy. In addition to academic, research, and consultation activities, Dr. Shafranske maintains a private practice in clinical psychology in Irvine, California.
