CED 101: A Primer on Identifying and Effectively Addressing Community Needs

It appears that in some communities, economic progress occurs “naturally.” However, this “natural cycle” has not worked in some communities for many years (even decades)! Many disadvantaged (but once prosperous) communities have struggled to grow and prosper economically. Nevertheless, these proud communities have many advantages and assets that can be utilized to jump-start and encourage economic growth and stability. As with all "new" efforts, the question must be asked “where do I start.” I hope that the information shared in this book will help you in determining your community’s needs and how to go about addressing them. The book's author, Richard C. Fuqua, has more than 15 years of experience in many areas of community economic development, including affordable housing, business development, project financing, and grants management.
