Hardback. In 1967 a mass murderer shot a family of 9 in Shell Lake, Saskatchewan. Ballistics experts were responsible for his conviction because, despite altered rifling marks on the gun barrel, the distinctive marks on the firing pin betrayed the weapon. In another case, with the aid of the serology laboratory, 9yr old bloodstains on a wooden cabin floor helped in the conviction of a killer even though his wife's corpse remained undiscovered. Perhaps most thrilling of all is the proof, supplied by toxicologists at the Toronto Forensic Centre, of a century-old homicide which took place in the arctic.
