BOOK DESCRIPTION: 16mo, 228 pgs, printed paper covers with printed title on cover and spine. Laid into custom paper folder and gilt stamped slipcase. CONDITION DESCRIPTION: The original pamphlet is in near fine condition with light rubbing on spine, but the covers are complete and not chipped. Interior is clean and tight; little evidence of use. The custom-made folder is newer and in like, near fine condition. Quite remarkable for its age and mode of publication using paper covers. CONTENTS DESCRIPTION: John Worrell Northrop was a Private in the 76th Regiment, New York Infantry during the Civil War. He was captured by Confederate forces at the Battle of the Wilderness. He was a POW imprisoned at Andersonville. While a POW, Northrop maintained a diary. He was exchanged at Charleston, South Carolina, December 12, 1864 and paroled, December 12, 1864. He passed away in 1923. Scarce publication, seldom offered for sale. RareBook Hub notes only one copy in a Goodspeed catalog in 1955.
