Hamilton is best known as Frank Richards, creator of Billy Bunter and the Greyfriars stories. The story centres on Arthur Augustus D’Arcy — “Gussy” — who is accused of punching a New House prefect in the dark. Tom Merry and his companions refuse to believe the accusation and rally to his defence, setting up another lively St. Jim’s adventure. Published by Mandeville Publications in 1950, Rallying Round Gussy was issued as one of the post-war Tom Merry novels under Hamilton’s Martin Clifford pseudonym. Bibliographical records identify the Mandeville 1950 issue as the first edition. Binding Publisher’s original cloth boards, in the original illustrated dust jacket. Condition Very Good in Very Good dust jacket. A very good copy with a sound binding and secure text block. Pages clean and well preserved, with only normal age-related toning. The original pictorial dust jacket remains bright and attractive, with some light rubbing, creasing and minor wear to the edges and extremities consistent with age.
