SOME COMMENTS AS TO THE WAR UPON THE RAILROAD INTERESTS NOW BEING WAGED BY A FEW WHOLESALE MERCHANTS IN BRIMINGHAM ( L & N Railroad attacks merchants of BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA )

Birmingham merchant interests, seeking fairness in freight rates from railroads (but primarily from the L&N), had begun a campaign to have the Alabama Railroad Commission elected by the people of Alabama rather than being appointed (sometimes under the influence of the railroads). Of course, that did not sit well with the L&N and so therefore they issued this booklet attacking the Birmingham Board of Trade (fore-runner of the Chamber of Commerce) and the Birmingham Wholesale Grocers' Association. Much on Alabama politics and on the huge role played therein by the Louisville & Nashville Railroad. This copy is complete but rather worn: discarded by a Washington DC railroad lobbying association, it has a few rubber stamps, some repairs to the front cover; the rear cover is detached but present.
