"Writing in a room by myself is practically my whole life" (Philip Roth). Philip Roth died on May 22, 2018 of congestive heart failure, literally of heartbreak, at the age of 85. An absolute "must-have" title for Philip Roth collectors. This title is a great collection. This is one of few copies of the First Hardcover Edition/First Printing still available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright. Please note: Copies available online have very serious flaws, are former library copies, or the Softcover Edition. This is surely an accessible and lovely alternative. A rare copy thus. Winner of every major literary award: The National Book Award, the PEN/Faulkner Award, the National Book Critics Circle Award, all of which he won twice. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize in 1997 for "American Pastoral". Recipient of the National Medal For The Arts in 1998. Recipient of the Gold Medal from the American Academy of Arts and Letters in 2002.
