In his piece, "Dead author inspires new sf venture", Thomas Sheridan asserts that John Russell Fearn, who had died nine years earlier, inspired the creation of a new sf magazine entitled Visions of Tomorrow, to be edited by Philip Harbottle and to be financed by a generous Australian backer. Not Mupert Rurdock, phew!! The centre piece is written by Arthur C Clarke and entitled "The Myth of 2001". Well, Arfer should know all about it. There are book reviews by Walter Gillings and Geoffrey Giles, readers' adverts as well fascinating adverts from publishers Sidgwick & Jackson and from the British Science Fiction Book Club. both offering books at - by today's standards - ridiculously low prices, but at the time not so much, as the weekly wage was somewhere in the region of half a score. A Sidgwick & Jackson Arthur C Clarke, Robert Heinlein or AE van Vogt omnibus, each featuring three novels, brand new, each cost 30 bob or £1.50 in today's decimal dosh. This copy of Cosmos 1 is an almost about fine copy, with clean, unruffled,very slightly dusty yellow wrappers, a small circular stamp of two initials in the upper corner of the inside wrapper and page 1, and there is minimal wear on page 18 and the rear wrapper's inside panel. All is shown on the attached digital photos. Still a very sound copy.
