An account of the Duke of Edinburgh's visit to Australia, with extensive descriptions of events in Sydney, Tasmania, Melbourne, New South Wales, and South Australia, as well as the trip from Rio to the Cape of Good Hope. Describes the attempted murder of the Duke at Clontarf, Middle Harbour, Sydney, by O'Farrell, a Fenian sympathizer. The colored lithograph views are particularly handsome and show the settlement of Edinburgh on Tristan d'Acunha, the farewell salute at Gibraltar, hunting an elephant in Africa, the arrival of the Galatea at Sydney, and others.
