FIRST EDITION. Large 8vo. [8]9-177[3]p. Illustrated with 15 full-page colorplates. Stiff pictorial wrappers printed in black and green with a vignette of a horse and rider on front wrapper. Born in Montivedeo in 1887, FernanSilva Valdes [1887-1975] was a prolific Uruguayan poet, short story writerand dramatist. One of the first to adopt new forms associated with Ruben Dorio, Leopoldo Lugones, and Julio Herrera Reissig, Silva Valdes evolved toward more native sentiments and showed a preference for rural things.
