First printing of the true first edition, published as a large-format paperback original by Kingsfleet Publications in 1992. Illustrated throughout in both black & white and colour. ***Near fine in glossy card covers. The covers are nice and clean, but have some rubbing and marks commensurate with age and handling, including some loss of colour in a small patch on the front cover where a sticker was probably removed (please see scans). No reading lean to the binding. Binding straight and secure. No bumps, creases or tears. No fading. Internally the book is also near fine, with no previous ownership inscriptions. No marks or foxing. No creases or tears. ***296mm x 210mm. 224 pages. ***'The Cure are an English rock band formed in Crawley in 1976 by Robert Smith (vocals, guitar) and Lol Tolhurst (drums). The Cure's 1979 debut album, Three Imaginary Boys, and several of their early singles placed the band at the forefront of the emerging post-punk and new wave movements that were gaining prominence in the United Kingdom. The band adopted an increasingly dark and tormented style beginning with their second album, Seventeen Seconds (1980), which had a strong influence on the emerging genre of Gothic rock. After the release of their fourth album, Pornography (1982), Smith started to introduce more pop into the band's music. The Cure achieved mainstream success with the albums Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me (1987), Disintegration (1989) and Wish (1992). The Cure's best-known songs include "Boys Don't Cry" (1979), "A Forest" (1980), "Close to Me" (1985), "Just Like Heaven" (1987), "Lovesong" (1989), and "Friday I'm in Love" (1992). The Cure have released 14 studio albums and over 40 singles, selling more than 30 million records worldwide. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019. Their 14th album, Songs of a Lost World (2024), was their first release of all-new material in 16 years and received widespread acclaim, topping the charts in multiple countries.' (Wiki) ***'In 1977, four schoolboys calling themselves "The Easy Cure" from the commuter-belt sprawl of Crawley in Sussex, seemed unlikely to become one of the most successful bands in the UK and a top-line attraction around the world. Against all odds, this is exactly what they did. --- This book is a detailed account of the remarkable career of this controversial band. Illustrated with both colour and black & white photographs, it is packed with quotes, memorabilia, collectables, rarities and comprehensive discography of both official and unofficial releases. A MUST FOR ALL CURE FANS.' (Quote taken from the back cover) ***A near fine copy of this comprehensive study of The Cure. A first printing - copies of all editions of this book are very hard to find now, especially in such presentable condition. ***For all our books, postage is charged at cost, allowing for packaging: any shipping rates indicated on ABE are an average only: we will reduce the P & P charge where appropriate - please contact us for postal rates for heavier books and sets etc.…
