Chief Inspector Cardby, late of Scotland Yard, and his son Mick have opened a detective agency. A peer hires them to find his drug addicted daughter and her supplier, a man known as Mr. Death. Basis for the 1941 movie This Man is Dangerous (British title), released in the U.S. as The Patient Vanishes, starring James Mason and Gordon McLeod. First U.S. edition. Purple boards with gilt and the logo of The Businesss Man's Library on the front. Lightly bumped, spine a bit sunned, especially so at the heel where the jacket is missing. Binding square and solid. Jacket has only the front panel and flap, and most of the spine. The rear panel and flap are missing. What remains is rubbed with small chips and tears, price intact, in Brodart.
