Add to basketA smart first edition of this colourfully illustrated work on Cambridge, with a folding map. First edition. Illustrated with a colour frontispiece, seventy-six colour plates, and a folding map. Collated complete. A charming work on the university city and county town of Cambridge, with chapters on the origin of the university, collegiate life, national movements, and much more. Written by Mildred Anna Rosalie Tuker, a British writer. Illustrated by William Matthison, a Victorian watercolourist, whose pictures were often made into chocolate-box-style postcards. In the original blue cloth binding. Externally, smart with light shelf wear and minor rubbing to the extremities. Light fading to the spine and the odd small mark to the boards. Front hinge starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting to the first and last few pages. Light age toning to the endpapers. Very Good.
