Illustrated with seventy-seven colour plates, including the frontispiece, and a folding map to the rear. Artwork by popular watercolourist William Matthison. Collated, complete. A historical account exploring the rich history of the University of Cambridge, from its origins to its development as a significant institution of learning. With particular interest in the evolution of the collegiate system and the impact that various figures and events had on its growth. Written by Mildred Anna Rosalie Tuker, an English author best known for her city guides. In the publisher's original decorative cloth binding. Externally, very smart with slight bumping and rubbing, resulting in minor loss of cloth at the spine head and tail, the spine itself being mildly discoloured, and one or two marks to the boards. Internally, generally firmly bound, the hinges starting and leading to minor weakness between pages 137 and 145. A bright and clean copy with the occasional spot, heavier to the first and last few pages. Very Good.
