Quarto. Quarter gray cloth and printed gray boards. Includes all plates. There are five gravures, printed on tissue, by the great Scottish photographer, J. Craig Annan and one lovely one by Eduard J. Steichen titled, "Pastoral-Moonlight", printed by a different process and on a more heavyweight paper. The text and backing paper has the "Einfield & Co. 1887" watermark. All of the prints are in nearly fine or better condition but for one, "Stirling Castle" by Annan. This has some fairly significant foxing to the margins and also to the backing paper and to the page opposite. Annan's gravures all show an offset shadow to the opposite pages. Although issues were normally published in wraps, this is the far scarcer hardcover edition. There is a hard bump to the lower fore corners, a more minor bump to the upper fore corners. Some rubbing to the boards. To the lower, front there is an area of bumping. Without names or bookplate. ; 4to 11" - 13" tall. Seller Inventory # 18589
