Published as a project of the Federal Writers' Project, Works Progress Administration (WPA) for the State of Massachusetts. Presumed first edition, first printing (no later printings noted). Black-and-white photo illustrations. Bound in full yellow cloth over boards, stamped with brown lettering, with beige pictorial endpapers. In original beige pictorial dust jacket, showing price of $2.00. 8.75 x 5.75 inches; [10], 403, [3] pages, [16] pages of plates. Binding with moderate soiling and light bumping, interior with light toning, dust jacket in pieces with significant wear and tape repair on verso. Very Good in Poor jacket. "Sponsored by Poor Richard Associates." From the American Guide Series. The Historical Society of Old Yarmouth writes, "Originally done privately while Berger was working on the Massachusetts Guide Book for the WPA, 'The Cape Cod Pilot'.was so good that the WPA convinced Berger to include it under their auspices and allowed him to earn the royalties."
