First Class boatswain's mate, "Fatso" Gioninni finally has command of his own vessel as he cruises around the Med getting into mischief. By some mischance, he and his landing craft are left behind when his Carrier Task Force get sailing orders. Fatso and his crew of free spirits take their own version of a "Med" cruise and the reader enjoys one light-hearted sea story after another. A favorite read of old Navy salts ,if this story were actually true, the Pentagon would most certainly deny it! The author, David V. Gallery , a retired USN Rear Admiral,( 1901-1977), had a heroic war record capturing a Nazi submarine on the high seas in WWII. He spins this yarn with real knowledge of basic Naval operations -- how aircraft carriers work, how navies are supplied, how spying missions are flown and how American and Russian navies navigate the same oceans. How much hell can Capt'n Fatso raise? Plenty, when his LCU sails off for a Joint Fleet Exercise without him. A rare collectable, first edition and first printing. Seller Inventory # ABE-1608515266542
